Claire Harding joined our community as the Academic Director in October 2017. Stepping into a newly created position, Claire is responsible for developing and managing the academic and curricular elements of our six-week Summer Program, as well as our K-12 School Year Program. Claire came to Horizons from Teach for America where she had served in various capacities since 2008, most recently as the Managing Director of Instructional Leadership. Claire’s other roles at TFA have included Manager of Teacher Leadership Development and Alumni Affairs Coordinator. Prior to her time at Teach for America, Claire worked as a first grade teacher in the New Haven Public Schools, of which she is also a graduate. Claire is already very familiar with Horizons having served on the Board of Horizons at Greens Farms Academy and also having worked as an Academic Coach in their high school program. Claire holds a B.S. in Urban and Regional Studies with a Concentration in Public Policy and Inequality from Cornell University. Claire’s background in teacher preparation, support and development, combined with her passion for social justice, gives us great confidence in her ability to shape this new role and continue to provide countless opportunities for Horizons students and families.
