Serving Children from Norwalk and Stamford

What is the Horizons Summer Program?

Horizons’ six-week intensive K through 9th grade Summer Program, hosted on the campus of New Canaan Country School (NCCS), serves approximately 300 children. Our program is a unique blend of academics and enrichment. Unlike most summer camps, Horizons offers students the opportunity to develop their academic skills through project-based, experiential activities such as rocket-building and film-making. Unlike traditional summer school, Horizons complements the academic components of its Summer Program with a broad range of enrichment opportunities—from woodshop, studio art, and dance to field trips and overnight campouts. Students in grades K through 5 have formal swim instruction at least twice a week. Every afternoon, all Horizons students go swimming, either on campus or at the many private pools donated by local residents.

Who is eligible to apply?

Students from Stamford, Norwalk, New Canaan, and Darien who are currently enrolled in grades K-7 are eligible to apply. Horizons must have a space available in your child’s grade. Horizons serves low-income families only. Families must have a household income that qualifies them for free or reduced priced meals in the public school system. We regret that we are not able to serve children with special needs. Nor are we able to provide transportation to and from campus for those students living in Darien. Bus service is provided for Stamford, Norwalk, and New Canaan students to and from campus.

The admissions committee meets in February and you will be notified in March if we have an available place for your child. Sending an application does not ensure a place for your child.
