Horizons at New Canaan Country School (NCCS) announced the appointment of four new members to its Board. The incoming members bring diverse expertise in education, communications, real estate, and community leadership to support the organization’s ongoing commitment to local youth.
Horizons at NCCS is a tuition-free, year-round academic and enrichment program serving more than 350 under-resourced students from Stamford and Norwalk annually. As the flagship program of a now-nationwide network, Horizons at NCCS is celebrating its 62nd year of operation.
The new board members include:
Monae Cherry: A resident of Stamford, Cherry is an educator at The Long Ridge School, a Horizons alumna, and a longtime Horizons lead teacher with a deep commitment to the organization and its mission.
Alexandra Delanghe Ewing: A resident of New Canaan, Ewing brings experience in communications and public relations, along with a strong commitment to the community through involvement with Horizons, NCCS, and the New Canaan Community Foundation.
Andrew Greig: A resident of New Canaan, Greig brings corporate real estate attorney experience to the board. He recently served as Co-President of the NCCS Parents’ Association and currently serves on the boards of New Canaan CARES and the New Canaan Basketball Association.
Elizabeth Guillen: A resident of Norwalk, Guillen serves as the World Language Chair and a Spanish teacher at St. Luke’s School, a tenured Horizons lead teacher, and a Horizons alumna. She previously served as the Special Faculty Representative on the Horizons Board for four years.
“I’m delighted to welcome these four outstanding leaders to the Horizons board,” said Susan Barr, Horizons Board Chair. “They bring a wonderful range of experiences, talents, and perspectives that will strengthen our work and help us continue creating meaningful opportunities for our students and families. Most importantly, they are deeply committed to our mission, and I’m excited about what we can accomplish together in the year ahead.”
Barr is joined on the executive committee by officers Arlety Bowman (Vice Chair), Melinda Stewart (Treasurer), and Sarah Irwin (Secretary).
